Wedding Weekend

This weekend seemed to be a BUSY weekend for celebrity weddings. There was the wedding of Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz, T.I. and Tiny and America's Sweetheart, Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky.

Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz were married on Friday in Corsica, France in front of a host of family in friends including Queen Latifah and Bono. Alicia Keys wore a beautiful Vera Wang gown and Swizz wore a Tom Ford tuxedo with a bow tie.  Alicia Keys and Swizz have been dating since 2008 and are expecting a baby in November.  I'm proud of Alicia and Swizz for atleast making it "official" before the baby arrives.

Tiny and T.I. were married at a Miami courthouse on Friday, July 30th and had a LAVISH wedding on Miami's Star Island on Saturday, July 31st.  Tiny's bridesmaids included Kandi, Toya and Monica.  The wedding colors were platinum and black. Tiny wore a beautiful Valentino gown while T.I wore Prada.  I am soooo happy for Tiny.  She has been with T.I. for a long time now and has 2 kids with him.  I am happy that they finally made it official.

Chelsea, 30, married childhood friend, investment bankerMarc Mezvinsky, 32, in a ceremony that took place at 5pm local time in Astor Courts, the former home of millionaire businessman John Jacob Astor IV, set in 50 acres of land overlooking the Hudson River in Rhinebeck, New York.  Chelsea had 500 guests and it is rumored that the wedding costs were 3.2 million.  Chelsea wore a beautiful Vera Wang gown that was rumored to be priced at $20,000. Chelsea and Marc met as teenagers and both attended Stanford University. Shortly afterwards her proud parents released a statement saying: 'Today, we watched with great pride and overwhelming emotion as Chelsea and Marc wed in a beautiful ceremony at Astor Courts, surrounded by family and their close friends. 'We could not have asked for a more perfect day to celebrate the beginning of their life together, and we are so happy to welcome Marc into our family. On behalf of the newlyweds, we want to give special thanks to the people of Rhinebeck for welcoming us and to everyone for their well-wishes on this special day.'

They are priced for ONLY $1195.  I need to stop being cheap with myself and go and get them, right???  Many celebrities have been wearing them because they are the HOTTEST shoe of the summer!!!!

Summer MOVIES 2010

Hey Y'all!
I haven't been on my blog in A LONG TIME.....this has been a VERY BUSY summer for me! I had to get on and talk about 2 GREAT movies that I have seen in the past 2 weeks.  The first was "Inception" with the MAGNIFICENT Leonardo DiCaprio. It is VERY hard for me to talk about the movie without giving TOO much away so ALL I'm going to say is GO SEE IT! You DEFINITELY won't be SORRY! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Angelina Jolie so I was SUPER excited to go and check out "SALT" today. When I say that this movie was ACTION-PACKED I am NOT lying. Angelina did her THANG! If you haven't already, GO CHECK OUT "Inception" and "SALT." You will NOT be SORRY!!!!

BET Awards 2010

Last night's BET Awards were AWESOME! After last year's fiasco, I have to say that this year's show was WONDERFUL! Queen Latifah looked wonderful and did a pretty good job as host.  I wasn't feeling all of her costume changes, especially when she was playing different characters; however, when she came out with regular evening gowns she looked simply AMAZING!!!!!! Nicki Minaj, Drake, Trey Songz and Alicia Keys were some of the BIG winners last night. Chris Brown did an AWESOME tribute to Michael Jackson and he danced his butt off! Seriously......ONLY Chris Brown could REALLY do the MJ tribute! I don't think that there is anyone else in the music industry that can dance BETTER than Chris! SORRY USHER! During his tribute he broke DOWN into tears during the song "Man In The Mirror." It was obvious that Chris had been through a ROUGH year but he was slowly trying to rebuild himself. Later on in the evening Chris BREEZY won the "AOL Fan-demonium" trophy and he told the audience, "I let y'all down before, but I won't do it again. I promise"  Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond, Marvin Sapp, Kim Burrell, Karen Clark-Sheard and Yolanda Adams did a WONDERFUL tribute to Haiti! I am a LIFETIME fan of Fred Hammond so I am ALWAYS excited to hear him sing.  Their performance was great OVERALL; however, it started out with Kirk Franklin trying to sing with his HORRIBLE voice! WTH Kirk? You CAN NOT sing!!!!! I know the Bible says, "Make a Joyful Noise," but GEEZ! LOL! Another surprise for me during the evening was the performance of El Debarge. El STILL has it! That man can SANG and still looks CUTE! LOL! Prince was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award. Janelle Monae performed "Let's Go Crazy," and that girl had me in the middle of my living room DANCING! Alicia Keys, Esperanza Spalding and Patti Labelle also did a WONDERFULon their tributes to him but I have to HONESTLY say that I was sooooooooooooo disappointed that Prince did NOT perform! What the HECK BET???? Overall, I would have to say that the 2010 BET Awards were VERY enjoyable!!!!

Michael Jackson....1 year later...GONE but NOT Forgotten!

I STILL can't believe that TODAY marks exactly a year since the passing of the KING OF POP, Michael Jackson's death! I'm sure most people remember where they were when they heard the news. I was at home and I had heard that he was in the hospital and then shortly thereafter the news of his death had flashed across the screen on CNN. Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, DEAD. Even thinking about it now almost brings me to tears. I never had the privilege of meeting Michael Jackson in person, but his music touched me like it had touched MILLIONS of people around the world.  Michael....we LOVE YOU and will NEVER forget you! RIP!

Khloe Kardashian buys hubby a Rolls Royce?!?

SOOOOOOOOOO many of us Laker fans are SUPER excited that they won the NBA Championship this year! It was a GREAT series that they played with the Boston Celtics and it DEFINITELY kept me on the edge of my seat during ALL 7 games! Anyways, they FINALLY won and Khloe Kardashian wanted to celebrate the fact that her husband Lamar Odom and his teammates won the Championship by giving him a BEAUTIFUL $400,000 Rolls Royce. Her mom Kris Jenner told E! News that Khloe had congratulated Odom's Lakers championship with "a brand new 2010 Rolls Royce...drop top coupe, white on white.

When I first heard about it, I was thinking to myself, "Geez, Khloe has paper like that?"  I wasn't the only one speculating about whether or not Khloe actually paid for the vehicle with her OWN money.  Khloe decided to respond to all of the bloggers and naysayers on Twitter on Tuesday when she said, "People r so pathetic, Y would I give some1 a gift w/ their money? That's lame. I actually make my own money. Shocking I know. Stop hating!" Well....with that being said......I guess Khloe SURE told all of us!!!! LOL!

Denzel Washington wins a TONY Award

When I initially heard the news that Denzel was doing a Broadway play I was so excited and a little bit SAD that I was in ATL and that I was going to miss seeing him on Broadway.  When I heard the news that he was nominated for a TONY award I was thinking, "WOW! Denzel Washington is THE MAN!" Last night Denzel Washington WON a Tony Award for BEST PERFORMANCE BY A LEADING ACTOR IN A PLAY for his performance in "Fences." His co-star in "Fences,"Viola Davis also won last night for BEST PERFORMANCE BY A LEADING ACTRESS IN A PLAY. CONGRATS Denzel and Viola!!

Where Did All Of The GOOD Music Go?

Good Morning All! I hope you had a WONDERFUL weekend! I had a GREAT weekend except for the fact that the weather here in Atlanta has been RIDICULOUSLY HOT! Anyways, I was cruising on the highway yesterday and one of my FAVORITE old songs came on 107.5 "Anniversary" by Tony Toni Tone.  As I was singing along with the song "Tomorrow Will Come and Girl I Can't Wait It's Our Anniversary...." the thought came to my mind, WHERE DID ALL OF THE GOOD MUSIC GO?  I'm not saying that artists don't make GOOD songs at all these days, but where did the MEMORABLE songs go? The songs that when you hear them you IMMEDIATELY reflect on where you were at and what was going on when you FIRST heard that song.  The songs that no matter how OLD they are you still LOVE and ENJOY them. I really don't feel like we are getting that type of music these days.  I can reflect on my Dad mentioning how  Marvin Gaye, Earth Wind & Fire and the Temptations made MUCH better music than the people of today. I TOTALLY agree with him!

SCREEN ON THE GREEN - RECAP

I know I might be a little LATE.....but.....WHATEVER!!!! I didn't get a chance to blog about how SCREEN ON THE GREEN was on last Thursday but it was such an eventful evening that I HAD to write about it.

I arrived at around 8:20 and got a half-way decent seat but Piedmont Park was CROWDED! People were EVERYWHERE!  Music was playing and people were dancing and ENJOYING themselves. I was excited!  After all, I was ditiching Kobe and The Lakers (GO LAKERS) to enjoy this event. The movie that was playing was "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen." I had never seen it, but I heard that it was a GREAT movie so I was ready to enjoy it. My friend and I got a good spot and settled into our seats and opened up our bag of chips and started munching on them when I suddenly noticed that there were teenagers EVERYWHERE! I felt like I was at a high school football game! WHERE were the cheerleaders? LOL! It was actually quite amusing for awhile.  The young teenage boys were there to get phone numbers from the young girls and for the first hour that I was there the SAME teenagers were prancing UP and DOWN the sidewalk that was near where I was sitting. My friend and I were sitting there laughing for awhile and wondering if we looked that CRAZY when we were in high school....I DON'T think so!!!! White Plains High School (shout out to White Plains, NY) girls had MORE respect for ourselves...so we thought! LOL!

Anyways...the movie didn't start until it was COMPLETELY dark....so that was around 9:25.  Now, most of US Grownups came with chairs and blankets and coolers and all; whereas, most of these teenagers just came to stand around and be noticed.  It was o.k. for them to be a little rowdy before the movie started but now that the movie had started it was time for them to SHUT UP!!!! LOL!  The first 5-10 minutes of the movie was o.k. and then next thing you know....the teenagers started to run in PACKS! I'm guessing that there were some fights going on because it happened about 3 times in the FIRST hour of the movie! I was sitting there like OMG where are the PARENTS at? They sent their WILD children out to ruin MY MOVIE? LOL! Anyways, I decided to leave after about 90 minutes of the film because it was getting TOO crazy out there and those teenagers were TOO wild! It was still a FUN evening and DEFINITELY an event that I would recommend to all of my ATL family to check out!

SCREEN ON THE GREEN is tonight and they will be playing "Dreamgirls." I LOVE that movie so I'm going to get to Piedmont Park SUPER early so that I won't have to deal with the WILD TEENAGERS OF ATL!

Chris Brown BARRED from the UK?!?

OMG! Chris Brown is BARRED from Britain because of the Rihanna beating? What the heck? How is he barred from ANOTHER country? British officials, were worried that Chris BREEZY was going to come over there and act a FOOL....nah.....but that he  might pose a danger to British citizens, so they barred him from entering the United Kingdom for concerts this week, a UK border official said.

My question is this...what kind of danger would he pose to British citizens??? Barbara Woodward, director of the UK border agency's international group said, "We reserve the right to refuse entry to the UK to anyone guilty of a serious criminal offense."  She also went on to say, "Public safety is one of our primary concerns."    According to his website, Chris BREEZY was scheduled to perform Wednesday night in Glasgow, Scotland, with shows in three English cities -- Manchester, Birmingham and London -- scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Sunday. He was then scheduled to perform in Cork, Ireland next Tuesday.
A publicist for Brown's UK tour said the shows in England, Scotland and Ireland were canceled "due to issues surrounding his work visa." Brown decided to vent to his on Twitter on Monday:

"U ever feel like the storm clouds are too thick for any sunshine to get through?"

"think ima go away!!!!"

I know Chris is upset....he not only lost his girl due to his IMMATURE actions...now they are trying to mess with his PAPER? WTH???

If Jesus can forgive a person, why can't the rest of the WORLD forgive a person???  That just goes to show that there are ALWAYS consequences to our actions!

"Behind the Music - DMX"

So......I watched the "Behind The Music - DMX" special that came on last night on VH1 and it was PRETTY interesting! Unfortunately it showed the rise and FALL of the career of Earl "DMX" Simmons. He had the typical life story of a rapper....someone who grew up in the projects in a life of poverty who got into trouble and eventually made it in the rap game.  His life story was NOT shocking and it was a story that I have heard OVER and OVER again.  I was just SHOCKED to know that his ex-wife Tashera started dating him even despite the fact that he ADMITTED to her that he was using crack and cocaine! WTH? That was the part of the story that stood out to me the MOST! Why would you start dating a man that is using crack and cocaine?  There is NOT that much LOVE in the world! Unfortunately, their marriage along with DMX's career was pretty much RUINED because of his addictions.  When you REALLY love someone sometimes you have to step AWAY from them until they GET IT TOGETHER! Eventually, Tashera had to step away from EARL! LOL!  Anyways, it is CLEAR that DMX STILL has some issues that he is dealing with...but....don't we ALL! I just pray that he gets it together because he is VERY talented and definitely has something to offer the music world if would just stay OUT OF JAIL and OFF of drugs!

THE WEEK IN REVIEW

Hello ALL! I've been MIA for a minute now on a MUCH NEEDED vacation.....so it feels GREAT to be back to blogging again.  Anyways, SOOOOOOOOOOOO much has happened in the last week. Alicia Keys is PREGNANT!!! She is also engaged to her Producer-Boyfriend Swizz Beatz. I am happy for Alicia because bringing a child into this world is ALWAYS a blessing! I wish her and Swizz the BEST! I just hope he doesn't treat Alicia the SAME way he did his ex-wife Mashonda!!!! GOOD LUCK with that ALICIA!!!

Gary Coleman died on Friday, May 28th at the VERY YOUNG age of 42? "What you talking bout Willis?" I couldn't believe it! It seems like those "Different Strokes" kids have had MORE trouble! Todd Bridges with his drug issues and Dana Plato with her drug issues and her unfortunate death from drug overdose and now.....Gary Coleman! He was such a cute little kid! Apparently Coleman died after suffering from a brain hemmorhage. He was in the hospital in Utah and on life support and it was terminated and he died at 12:05 p.m. What a HORRIBLE way to GO!!!!!

In other news, Al Gore and his wife Tipper are getting a DIVORCE!?! I mean REALLY.....after 40 years? People.....after you're with someone for THAT LONG of a time, you can't MAKE IT WORK????? The sad part is that they were high school sweethearts and to their friends and family they APPEARED to be happy.  The Gores e-mailed a statement on Tuesday, ""We are announcing today that after a great deal of thought and discussion, we have decided to separate. This is very much a mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together following a process of long and careful consideration. We ask for respect for our privacy and that of our family, and we do not intend to comment further." HOW SAD!!!! :-(

I just heard the GREAT news that Mariah Carey and her husband Nick Cannon MIGHT be expecting a BABY! How wonderful! Mariah was scheduled to be in Tyler Perry's new movie, "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf," but she dropped out of the movie which has sparked all of the pregnancy speculation. If the pregnancy rumors ARE TRUE...then I am sooo HAPPY for Nick and Mariah! A lot of people thought that there marriage would not work, but I am glad to see that they have ignored all of the naysayers and are still together. CONGRATS Mariah and Nick!

Toddler Smokes 40 Cigarettes A day?!?

I saw this article online and I just HAD to write about it.  OMG! A 2 year old in Indonesian is smoking 40 cigarettes a day? WTH? First of all, his parents need to be PUT IN JAIL!!!!!!! Why would they allow their 2 year old son to smoke cigarettes?????  Apparently the parents of Ardi Rizal said that he started smoking at the age of 18 months, and apparently now he is ADDICTED! My question is this? WHO THE HECK would give their child a cigarette at the age of 18 months?!?  The mother said that Ardi is so addicted that if he does not get a cigarette he will start throwing a tantrum and bashing his head against a wall. What is the world coming to that a parent would allow their 2 year old child to throw a tantrum if he doesn't get a cigarette??? WTH?  So WHAT if he throws a tantrum! DO NOT GIVE HIM A CIGARETTE!!!!! Parents....BE PARENTS!!! STOP letting your children run over you!!!! When I saw the picture of Ardi smoking I didn't know whether to laugh or to scream! It is CRAZY!!!!!

"Sex And The City 2" New York Premiere

I might as well call this the "Sex And The City 2" week.....because most of us ladies are caught up in EVERYTHING involving "Sex And The City 2," and CANNOT WAIT for Thursday night to arrive so that we can check it out. On Tuesday night in NYC the SATC2 premiere took place and I was ANXIOUS to see what the ladies from SATC2 wore to the premiere because when you think about "Sex And The City" you can't help but think about FASHION!! Sarah Jessica Parker wore a yellow Valentino gown from the 2010 Spring collection that looked FABULOUS! Yellow was the PERFECT color for a Spring event. She stood out amongst the crowd because she chose a bright, bold color. Cynthia Nixon looked FABULOUS in her dress by Carolina Herrera. It was classy, elegant and she looked WONDERFUL. You NEVER can go wrong with a black dress for an evening event. Kristin Davis stood out by wearing a neon pink vintage couture gown by Jean Desses from Decades.  Kim Cattrall looked stunning.....as usual in a gold-toned dress by Naeem Khan. Overall, I think Sarah Jessica Parker's Valentino dress was my FAVORITE! Which one do you like the best??

Lindsey Lohan has to wear a MONITORING BRACELET?!?!

TODAY......A judge in Beverly Hills ordered Lindsey Lohan to wear an alcohol-monitoring bracelet on her ankle and she would have to adhere to MANDATORY drug testing EVERY WEEK in Los Angeles.  The alcohol-monitoring bracelet is called a SCRAM device and it can detect traces of alcohol through the wearer's perspiration.  If it is tampered with, then the police will IMMEDIATELY be notified. Lohan's attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, informed the judge that Lohan was scheduled to start filming a movie in Texas next week; however, the judge informed Holley that she would have to put that project on HOLD.  The judge also set a probation violation hearing for July 6th, because Lohan missed court last week because she was in Europe partying like a ROCK STAR and didn't feel like rushing back to LA to tend to her legal business.  According to Holley, Lohan's passport was STOLEN while she was in Cannes. STOLEN, FOR REAL Lindsey????? Personally....I do NOT believe that! I think that Lohan was having such a GREAT time partying and enjoying the Cannes Film Festival that she came up with a BOGUS excuse to get out of returning home to LA for her court appearance.  This will be the SECOND time that Lohan has worn the alcohol-monitoring bracelet on her ankle....let's just hope that it WORKS this time!!

Naomi Campbell's 40th Birthday BASH!!!!

On Saturday night, Naomi Campbell's BILLIONAIRE boyfriend, Vladimir Doronin surprised her with a 40th Birthday Celebration that ONLY set him back $1 MILLION DOLLARS. Yes, you read right, $1 MILLION DOLLARS! Doronin booked both Black Eyed Peas and Grace Jones to perform for his special lady on her birthday.  The celebration took place at the SUPER-EXCLUSIVE Hotel du Cap in Antibes.  To kick off the birthday celebration, earlier that afternoon Doronin took Campbell on a romantic boat trip to St. Tropez with celebrity couple, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony.  What a wonderful way to bring in her 40's!

Coach sues Chicago over KNOCK-OFFS!!!!

The high-end handbag company, Coach, Inc. sued the city of Chicago over the sale of knock-off goods at the Maxwell Street Market.  The company filed its lawsuit last Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Chicago, saying it has suffered "substantial damages" as a result of the activity.  According to the lawsuit, a Coach investigator visited Maxwell Street in August 2009 and observed about 300 vendors selling "counterfeit Coach products in plain view."  Later that month, some individuals from the Chicago Police Department of  returned to the market with the investigator, who bought an $18 fake Coach bag at one booth and a $24 fake Chanel bag at another booth. The two vendors were arrested. Being a native New Yorker, my question is this...WHEN is Coach, Inc. going to sue the city of NEW YORK????? There are TONS of Coach knock-off bags being sold on Canal Street, Delancy St, Fordham Rd., Flatbush Avenue and Jamaica Avenue. LOL! Why was the city of Chicago targeted?  Since Coach is interested in stopping the sale of knock-off Coach handbags, I will be interested to see what city it targets NEXT!!!!!

Brittany Murphy's husband found DEAD????

OMG! The husband of Brittany Murphy (the late actress who died ONLY 5 months ago) was found dead in Los Angeles on yesterday evening.  Firefighters were responding to an emergency call that they received at 9:40 p.m. when they found Simon Monjack, the British screenwriter, dead at this Hollywood Hills home.  According to police there were no signs of criminal activity or foul play. Brittany JUST died on Dec. 20th after collapsing in her home. The question that I'm asking is WHAT THE HECK is going on in that home that people keep DROPPING DEAD????

The MOST HATED Man In The World!

Jesse James, the EX-husband of Sandra Bullock recently had a sit down interview with Vicky Mabrey of "Nightline" and admitted that he ruined his marriage with Bullock.  It was reported that James cheated on Bullock with 4 different women, but it was probably many more. The sad part about this whole situation was that while Bullock was away making movies, James was having his own FUN at home! How RIDICULOUS?!?! I'm happy to see that Bullock just recently adopted a son named Louis, and she is moving on with her life. During the interview, James said, "I took a pretty amazing life and marriage and threw it away." When the allegations of James cheating first came out, he was called "The Most Hated Man In America." During the interview James said,"I think it's, 'Most hated man in the world now." The full interview airs on Tuesday, May 25th on ABC's "Nightline" at 11:35 p.m. EST.

Poetic Moments LIVE - RECAP

Hey Y'all!

Poetic Moments Live was last night at 595 North and it was AWESOME!!!!! The show started at 8:00 so I wanted to make sure that I got there early enough to get a good seat and all, so I arrived at 7:30 EXACTLY! Anyways, when I walked in there were very few people there and the band was just setting up and I was thinking to myself, "Isn't this supposed to start at 8:00?" Anyways, my friend and I were fortunate to get a table at the VERY front so we settled down and started chit chatting until the show began. 595 North has a WONDERFUL menu with GREAT prices....there are chicken wings and chicken fingers for ONLY $6, and shrimp for $8. While my friend and I were talking, we decided to order some food since neither of us had eaten dinner. I ordered chicken fingers and fries and she ordered the shrimp. While we were sitting and waiting for the food to come time was slowly ticking away and it didn't seem as if they were ANY closer to starting the show. Finally the food come and I tried one of my chicken fingers and it was soooooo TOUGH that I sent them back and ordered the shrimp. FINALLY....the show started at 8:35......35 minutes LATER than when it was supposed to start. Anyways, I was anxious to see what "Poetic Moments Live" was all about, so as the lights started to dim and the M.C. for the night, Joyce Littel approached the stage I got comfortable in my chair so that I could sit back and enjoy the show. The first poet for the night was a young man by the name of Real Thoughts and the name of his poem was "Black." His poem was ok, but you could tell that he was DEFINITELY NEW to the Poetry game. The second poet, named Dub Deuce The Poet performed a poem titled "Boom." It was DEFINITELY a sensual poem and I was tickled by his line that said "Let Me Explore Your Space Like A Captain named Kirk." LOL! He definitely was entertaining! One of my FAVORITE poets for the night was a Lady named Curvaceous. When she entered the stage she said "I'm an erotic artist," so I knew that she was going to BRING IT! LOL! and Curvaceous did 2 poems, one called "Share Your Shit" and another one called "Aint Gon Make It." The first poem was basically about getting into a relationship with someone and really wanting them to share not only the GOOD things about themeslf, but the bad things as well. Lyrical Jones was another poet that I enjoyed because she not only did poetry, but she sang as well. She would sing a little, then do a little poetry, then go back to singing....it was GREAT!!!! The Featured Poet for the night was a man named Sphinx. He has been on Def Poetry Jam and Every 3rd Friday of the month he hosts a Poetry event at Kat's Cafe in Midtown. He was WONDERFUL! I could've listened to his poetry ALL NIGHT LONG!!!! LOL! After the Feautured poet there was a Featured musical artist for the night and his name was Xavier, but his stage name is XL. He was WONDERFUL. He did a few original songs and he even did his own rendition of John Legend's "Ordinary People." He had been on the tv show, "America's Got Talent," and I can see why because the man can SANG!!! During his performance he came down to the front row and started to sing to my friend and the spotlight was on our table....it was HILARIOUS!!! LOL!! Overall, Poetic Moments Live was an AWESOME event! It is going to be held EVERY 4th Thursday at 595 North and I DEFINITELY recommend it because admission is ONLY $7 and you are SURE to have a WONDERFUL time!!!!!!
